Acne Treatments

Acne Facial Treatment Facials are non-intrusive therapeutic treatments. These treatments are customized to meet the needs of both adolescents and adults suffering from acne outbreaks. Acne Facials employ deep-pore and deep-tissue cleansing using antibacterial agents that rid the skin of excess oils while stimulating circulation. Thus, this treatment aims to prevent acne outbreaks while speeding the natural turnover of dead and damaged skin cells.

Despite being called an “acne facial”, this treatment can be applied wherever acne outbreaks occur, such as the upper back, shoulders and chest.

Benefits of Acne Treatments

  • Improves skin clarity.

  • Promotes the healing of damaged tissue.

  • Reduces acne blemishes.

  • Thwarts future flare-ups.

  • Soothes redness and inflammation.

  • Reduces irritation and discomfort.

Acne Treatment Plan

Deep-cleansing Acne Facial Treatments are recommended for clients prone to oily skin. Both men and women can benefit from this treatment, which generally incorporates facial steaming (to open pores), followed by deep cleansing. Next, your esthetician will perform facial extractions (to unclog pores), and finish the treatment with the application of a healing mask followed by a hydrating moisturizer. Also applied are salicylic and glycolic acids, which help manage and prevent future outbreaks.
After the treatment, your esthetician will recommend a dermatology-grade at-home skincare regimen to control the internal overproduction of sebum oil, while keeping the skin clean and pores unclogged. Toning and exfoliating agents will also be suggested to speed cell turnover and promote healing.
Whether mild or severe, acne outbreaks often leave the skin rough and blemished with dark spots, pock marks, and deep ice-pick scars. Once a patient’s acne is under control, many Danik patients undergo a series of Acne Scar Removal treatments. Effective treatments include Fractional Skin Resurfacing, eMatrix Skin Resurfacing, Micro-Needling, Microdermabrasion, and Chemical Peels.

Types Of Acne

Acne is classified into four types depending on the degree of severity.

The different types of acne that can be seen are, congested pores (comedones), whiteheads, blackheads, pimples also known as zits, pustules; more inflamed grade and cysts, known as deep boils.

Development of acne occurs when the pores in our skin become backed up with dead skin cell and an overproduction of sebum oil.

Our bodies produce an increase of sebum oil when our hormones amplify. That is why pre-teens and teens are vulnerable to acne, as well as women before their menstrual cycle. Given that hormones also rise in years leading up to menopause, women in their 40’s and 50’s are also candidates of acne.

Did you know?

Oral antibiotics, such as tetracycline and doxycycline, are often prescribed for acne.

Taking antibiotics as directed will help your acne clear and may reduce the risk of bacterial resistance – a condition that makes the antibiotic ineffective.

FAQs

That depends upon the patient’s age, the type and severity of the scars, and the difference in the way different patients respond to various treatments. At Danik, we recommend a combination of the following treatments: Fractional Skin Resurfacing, eMatrix Skin Resurfacing, Micro-Needling, Microdermabrasion, and Chemical Peels.

·         Clean skin gently. Use a mild cleanser morning, night, and after exercising.  Do not use scrub pads. Also wash your hair regularly, especially if you have oily hair.

·         Avoid rubbing and touching the face, back, or any other acne-prone area. Do not squeeze or pick at blemishes. That will only increase inflammation and the chance of scarring.

·         Men should shave carefully, gently and only when necessary to avoid opening lesions, which will induce further inflammation and the possibility of infection.

·         Avoid sun tanning and sun burns. Overexposure to the sun exacerbates acne.

Choose cosmetics carefully. Use products labeled “noncomedogenic” (non-acne causing) and avoid applying foundation during the first few weeks of treatment.

Too much sun is extremely damaging to the skin and can actually promote acne outbreaks rather than curing this condition.

People of all races, genders, and ages get acne. It is most common in adolescents and young adults. An estimated 80 percent of all people between the ages of 11 and 30 have acne outbreaks at some point. For most people, acne outbreaks subside by the time they reach their 30s. However, many adults in their 40s and 50s continue to get acne outbreaks.

Our skin is covered in pores that can overproduce sebum oil and become congested with a mixture of oil and dead skin cells. There are many factors, including hormonal changes, that can affect levels of sebum oil, but when too much is produced, instead of draining to the surface, it gets blocked, creating an environment where acne-causing bacteria flourish. This causes acne outbreaks and inflammation.
